Position Overview:
The Data Analyst is responsible for analyzing complex datasets within the Library and Information Science domain to extract valuable insights. This role plays a critical role in supporting decision-making processes, improving data quality, and ensuring effective information management practices within the organization. The Data Analyst will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including librarians, researchers, and IT personnel, to drive data-driven strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Analyze large datasets using advanced statistical methods and tools to identify patterns, trends, and correlations.
2. Develop and implement data models, algorithms, and statistical techniques to uncover insights and support decision-making processes.
3. Interpret and present data analysis results in a clear and concise manner through reports, visualizations, and presentations.
4. Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into data analysis tasks.
5. Identify data quality issues, develop data cleaning processes, and ensure data accuracy and consistency.
6. Design and maintain data collection and storage systems, ensuring data security and compliance with relevant regulations.
7. Collaborate with IT personnel to develop and optimize data infrastructure and architecture.
8. Stay updated with the latest trends and advancements in data analysis techniques, tools, and technologies.
9. Provide training and support to colleagues on data analysis techniques and tools.
10. Assist in the implementation and maintenance of data governance policies and procedures.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Library and Information Science, Information Management, Data Science, or a related field.
2. Proven experience as a Data Analyst or in a similar role, preferably within the Library and Information Science domain.
3. Proficiency in statistical analysis tools (e.g., R, Python, SPSS) and data visualization software (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
4. Strong knowledge of data analysis techniques, including statistical modeling, regression analysis, and data mining.
5. Familiarity with database management systems and SQL.
6. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work with complex datasets.
7. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data analysis and reporting.
8. Effective communication skills, with the ability to present complex findings in a clear and understandable manner.
9. Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
10. Familiarity with data governance practices and data privacy regulations is a plus.
